Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Salida). Everything went their way against the La Junta Tigers on Saturday as the Salida Spartans made off with a 78-52 win. The Spartans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 20 points or more this season.

Despite the loss, La Junta still got an impressive performance from Monze Alvidrez, who went 7 for 16 on his way to 19 points. Alvidrez's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of DJ Brown, who posted 12 points.

Salida's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for La Junta, they now have a losing record at 3-4.

The future could be bright for both Salida and La Junta: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. Salida will try to hand Pagosa Springs their third-straight loss when the two meet at 7:00 p.m. on January 10, 2025. Similarly, La Junta will try to hand Colorado Springs Christian their fourth-straight defeat when the two meet at 7:00 p.m. on January 8, 2025.
