Basketball Recap: Timarian Howard's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Immokalee over Palmetto Ridge

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Immokalee can now relate to. They took a 68-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Palmetto Ridge Bears on Wednesday. The loss continues a trend for the Indians in their matchups with the Bears: they've now lost six in a row.

Immokalee's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Timarian Howard, who went 6 for 14 en route to 17 points and six boards. The game was Howard's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Marshon Jackson, who posted 13 points.

Palmetto Ridge got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Gavin Neugent out in front who went 7 of 9 on his way to 18 points. Another player making a difference was Evan Adams, who went 8 for 15 en route to 17 points.

Immokalee's loss dropped their record down to 12-12. As for Palmetto Ridge, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-8 record this season.

Immokalee does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Palmetto Ridge, they will face off against Gateway at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Palmetto Ridge is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.6 points per game this season.
