Baseball Recap: Catalina Foothills Picks Up Tenth Consecutive Win

Catalina Foothills extended their winning streak to ten on Thursday, bumping their season record up to 19-3 in the process. They blew past the Casa Grande Cougars 8-1. The result was nothing new for the Falcons, who have now won 11 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Yaxel Ledesma and Ganon Dwyer made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Ledesma pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Dwyer tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Ledesma has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. At the plate, Ledesma went 2-for-3 with two RBI, while Dwyer went 1-for-3 with three RBI. That's the most RBI Dwyer has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Cooper Kruk was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in March.

As for Casa Grande, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last 12 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-12 record this season. That's two games in a row now that they have lost by exactly seven runs.

On Casa Grande's side, Cole Rice made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run. Rice has become a key player for the Cougars: the team is 4-2 when he posts at least one home run, but 7-10 otherwise.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Catalina Foothills is set to square off against their familiar foe Canyon del Oro at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Falcons 2.9, the Dorados 2.9) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Casa Grande will take on rival Maricopa at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
