Baseball Recap: Oakdale's Luck Changes for the Better on Monday

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against North DeSoto, Oakdale was happy to have turned things around on Monday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Grant Cougars a 13-0 shutout. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Warriors as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Kylar Ballard made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his five plate appearances.

In other batting news, Masyn Giles was incredible, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Gavin Thompson was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Oakdale's victory bumped their record up to 9-6. As for Grant, their defeat was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Oakdale will take on Pineville at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Grant, they will venture away from home to square off against Grace Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
