Volleyball Game Preview: Carmel Corsairs vs. Nazareth Academy Roadrunners

Carmel is a perfect 4-0 against Nazareth Academy since May of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Corsairs will head out on the road to challenge the Roadrunners at 6:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

On Monday, Carmel came up short against Grayslake Central and fell 2-0.

The final score came out to 25-14, 25-21.

Meanwhile, Nazareth Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of Cristo Rey Jesuit. While the Roadrunners didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Cristeros 25-18 in the first set.

The 2-1 doesn't really show just how close this match was: all the sets Nazareth Academy lost were decided by three points or less. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 18-25, 27-25, 25-23.

Carmel has been struggling recently as they've lost 12 of their last 14 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-24 record this season. As for Nazareth Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-23.

Carmel was able to grind out a solid victory over Nazareth Academy in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, winning 2-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Corsairs since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
