Basketball Game Preview: Fernley Vaqueros vs. North Valleys Panthers

Fernley is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They enjoyed a cozy 57-38 victory over Hug. The Vaqueros haven't had any issues with the Hawks recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Meanwhile, North Valleys had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 36 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. Everything went their way against the Indians as they made off with a 56-34 victory. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' Nevada basketball rankings (they are ranked seventh, while the Indians are ranked 42nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

North Valleys pushed their record up to 22-4 with the win, which was their 19th straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.6 points over those games. As for Fernley, their victory bumped their record up to 20-6.

Fernley couldn't quite finish off North Valleys in their previous matchup two weeks ago and fell 51-48. Can Fernley avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
