Baseball Game Preview: Bloomington North Cougars vs. Martinsville Artesians

The Bloomington North Cougars will face off against the Martinsville Artesians at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Bloomington North's pitching crew has only allowed 1.6 runs per game this season, so Martinsville's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Thursday as neither Bloomington North nor Shakamak made it on the board until the seventh inning. The Cougars fell just short of the Lakers by a score of 2-1. The game marked the Cougars' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Meanwhile, Martinsville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against Greenwood, falling 15-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Artesians have suffered since May 15, 2024.

Rhys Wolf made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged two or more in each of the last three games he's played.

Martinsville's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Bloomington North, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-2.
