Football Recap: John Paul II Drops Highest Score of Season Against Coram Deo Academy

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask John Paul II). They took down the Coram Deo Academy Lions 57-41 on Friday. The Cardinals haven't had any issues with the Lions recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead John Paul II to victory, but perhaps none more so than Cade Lynch, who rushed for 85 yards and two scores, and also threw for 323 yards while completing 76.2% of his passes. Those 323 passing yards gave Lynch a new career-high. Another rusher making a difference was Ethan Patterson, who rushed for 119 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: John Paul II was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 235 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

The victory got John Paul II back to even at 4-4. As for Coram Deo Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 4-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. John Paul II will face off against Dallas Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 1,211 yards in their previous games. As for Coram Deo Academy, they will take on Newman International Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Lions will be up against the Warriors' rather soft defense (which has allowed 45.57 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
