Softball Recap: Mercyhurst Prep Lakers vs. North East Grape Pickers

Mercyhurst Prep extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 21 on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 0-7 in the process. They came up short against the North East Grape Pickers, falling 17-2. The Lakers were not able to make up for their defeat to the Grape Pickers from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

As for North East, their victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-15. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For North East's part, they got a massive performance out of Maisy Post, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave Post a new career-high. Allison Wilkinson was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double.

Coming up, Mercyhurst Prep will challenge Lakeview at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Sailors have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.33 runs per game on average), something the Lakers will no doubt try to take advantage of. North East does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
