Basketball Game Preview: Hickory Hawks vs. Indian River Braves

Hickory is 1-9 against Indian River since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Hickory Hawks will welcome the Indian River Braves at 6:00 p.m.

Hickory is headed into Tuesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their sixth straight game on Friday. They were outmatched by Grassfield and fell 75-47. While losing is never fun, the Hawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 191st, while the Grizzlies are ranked 27th).

Meanwhile, Indian River entered their tilt with Lakeland on Friday with two consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with a 53-43 victory over the Cavaliers.

Indian River's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-8. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.0 points over those games. As for Hickory, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-16.
