Basketball Game Preview: Curlew Cougars vs. Pateros Billygoats/Nannies

The Curlew Cougars will venture away from home to challenge the Pateros Billygoats/Nannies at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both have had a bumpy ride up to this point with eight consecutive losses for Curlew and three for Pateros.

It was a proper cat-fight when Curlew took on Republic on Wednesday. Curlew was dealt a 72-28 loss at the hands of Republic. The contest marked the Cougars' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Despite the defeat, Curlew saw an underclassman step up: freshman Jake Olson went 5 of 10 on his way to 11 points. Luke Doyen was another key player, putting up five points and six boards.

Meanwhile, Pateros lost 54-34 to Cascade Christian Academy on Thursday.

Pateros' loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Curlew, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-12.

Everything came up roses for Curlew against Pateros in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, as the squad secured an 86-53 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Curlew since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
