Soccer Game Preview: Metamora vs. Normal West

The Metamora Redbirds will challenge the Normal West Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Metamora's last three matchups have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Metamora is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. While the 3-3 score might suggest a draw, it was the Redbirds who were credited with the victory. Metamora got it done in the shootout by posting five goals to Normal University's four.

Normal West took a loss when they played away from home last Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They never let Lincoln get on the board and left with a 3-0 win. The result was nothing new for Normal West, who have now won 11 contests by three goals or more so far this season.

Normal West's victory bumped their record up to 16-4-2. As for Metamora, their win bumped their record up to 10-6-5.

Metamora suffered a grim 6-0 defeat to Normal West in their previous matchup back in September of 2016. Can the Redbirds avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
