Baseball Recap: Miller Comes Up Short

Miller extended their losing streak to 14 on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 5-21 in the process. They lost 8-2 to the Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial Eagles. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 26-2 back in March.

As for Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial, the victory (which was their 16th in a row) raised their record to 24-2-1. Considering they have won 11 contests by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

For Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial's part, Julian Colsa was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Colsa has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Davian Garcia and MJ Vela did most of the damage at the plate: Garcia went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI, while Vela went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That's the most stolen bases Vela has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Aaron Gonzalez, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

As of now, neither Miller nor Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial have any future games scheduled.
