Softball Recap: East Union Extends Winning Streak to Ten

East Union had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They won by a run and slipped past the Sebastopol Bobcats 13-12. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Urchins, who until this matchup were averaging 2.7 runs allowed.

Lucy Cochran made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up five earned runs off six hits. Cochran was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Caroline Sherwood was incredible, going 2-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Ali Cooper was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

East Union kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April.

The victory (which was East Union's tenth in a row) raised their record to 27-3. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Sebastopol, their loss dropped their record down to 27-6.

East Union will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Bobcats: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
