League recap: Marbury scores huge upset over Booker T. Washington

The biggest upset of the week belonged to Marbury, who defeated 259th ranked Booker T. Washington, 33-25.

Russell added to the longest winning streak in 5A Region 2 this week by beating Carroll, 52-7. This was the team's seventh consecutive win.

D.J. Bailey was the best running back in the league this week. In 26 carries, he ran for 152 yards as Valley beat the Eagles. Teammate MATRAVIOUS WILLIAMS added to the ground attack by rushing for 90 yards.

Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Danny Horn's team's Bryant Horn and Lajarret Ford have proven to be a lethal combination. 6-0 quarterback Horn has thrown for 1,359 yards this season, while Ford has 30 catches for 431 yards. Bailey from the Rams leads the league in rushing with 988 yards.

The top two teams in 5A Region 2 will face off this week when first place Russell takes on second place Eufaula. The Wildcats beat Carroll last week, while Eufaula defeated Rehobeth.

Valley's Bailey is a mere 12 yards away from breaking the 1,000-rushing-yards mark for the season. Bailey has rushed for 988 yards on 182 carries so far this year.

The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Russell takes on the Tigers. The Wildcats have allowed 81 points this season, while Eufaula has given up 159. Russell allowed 7 points last week as it bested Roger McDonald's team.

Marbury scaled the state rankings by moving to 318 from 361 this week, the biggest jump in the league. Jim Strickland's team was able to move up by beating the Golden Eagles 33-25.
