Basketball Recap: Kazion Morehead Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Lutheran

Freeport had to kick off their season on the road on Tuesday, but they showed no ill effects. They walked away with an 80-72 victory over the Lutheran Crusaders. For the Pretzels, this counts as revenge for the 88-62 win the Crusaders walked away with the last time they faced one another back in November of 2022.

Freeport's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kazion Morehead led the charge by shooting 42% from the field to rack up 25 points and seven rebounds. That's the most points Morehead has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Seward, who went 8-for-13 on his way to 19 points and seven boards.

Freeport didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 63-53 defeat against Chicago Marshall on the 26th. As for Lutheran, they have also already played their next game, a 67-49 loss against Richwoods on the 26th.
