West Limestone and Elkmont are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2017, but likely not for long. The Wildcats will head out on the road to challenge the Red Devils at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. West Limestone is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.7 runs per game this season.
Fans were treated to a battle of the Wildcats last Monday. West Limestone put the hurt on Westminster Christian Academy with a sharp 13-3 victory. West Limestone might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 19 contests by seven runs or more this season.
Katie Lyn Kyle spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on two hits and racked up 14 Ks.
On the hitting side, Lilly Bethune was incredible, firing off two home runs, four runs, and one triple while going 3-for-4. That's the most home runs she has posted over her last 13 games. The team also got some help courtesy of Haley Waggoner, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
West Limestone always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .541. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .517 or higher in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Elkmont had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against Grissom by a score of 8-4 on Monday.
MJ Woodfin made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Savannah Williams, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was McKenzie Doner, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
West Limestone's record is now 31-5. As for Elkmont, the win got them back to even at 11-11.
Everything went West Limestone's way against Elkmont in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as West Limestone made off with an 11-1 victory. Do the Wildcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Red Devils turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
