Recap: Manchester Valley Mavericks vs. Tuscarora Titans
The Manchester Valley Mavericks pushed their score all the way to 62 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 71-62 hit to the loss column at the hands of Tuscarora. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Manchester Valley came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 117th, while Tuscarora is ranked 237th).
Manchester Valley's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Braylen Williams, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds and three blocks. William Cuneo was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with six rebounds and two blocks.
Manchester Valley are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-6. As for Tuscarora, their win ended a 11-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-10.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Manchester Valley and South Carroll will face off at 6:30 p.m. on January 26th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. South Carroll will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive. As for Tuscarora, Tuscarora and Oakdale will face off on January 26th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Oakdale is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games.
