Basketball Game Preview: Kearny Komets vs. High Tech SD Storm

Kearny hasn't had much luck against High Tech SD recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Kearny Komets will challenge the High Tech SD Storm at 7:30 p.m. One thing working in Kearny's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three matchups.

Last Tuesday, Kearny got the win against Classical Academy by a conclusive 69-48. The Komets have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 21 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 56 points the game before, High Tech SD was a bit more limited in their game on Tuesday. They had to suffer through a 75-25 loss at the hands of San Diego. The matchup marked the Storm's lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Kearny will have to contain Sebastian Blackaller as he made an impact in High Tech SD's last game. He went 7 for 17 on his way to 15 points and eight rebounds.

Kearny has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.9 points per game. As for High Tech SD, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season.

Kearny came up short against High Tech SD when the teams last played back in February of 2024, falling 61-52. Can Kearny avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
