Basketball Recap: Life Christian Academy Comes Up Short

After flying high against The Vine Christian Academy last Tuesday, Life Christian Academy came back down to earth. The Life Christian Academy Lions took a 69-63 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hope Academy Trojan Tigers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Lions of the 63-58 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2023.

Despite the loss, Life Christian Academy still got an impressive performance from Ahmed Salim Mustapha, who dropped a double-double with 26 points and 15 rebounds. The contest was Mustapha's seventh in a row with at least 15 points. Jordani Johnson was another key player, going 5 for 8 to rack up 11 points along with seven boards and three steals.

Hope Academy was led to victory by Dwayne Foreman III and Willie Griggs. Foreman III went 10 of 20 on his way to 26 points in addition to six assists and three steals, while Griggs dropped a double-double with 22 points and 18 rebounds. Foreman III is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last 13 games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Nehemiah Rapael, who posted five points.

Life Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 26-3. As for Hope Academy, their win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-9.

Life Christian Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Hope Academy, they will host Pathways at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
