Basketball Recap: Western Brown Comes Up Short

On Wednesday, the Western Brown Broncos were within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 55-49 to the Fairfield Indians.

Despite the loss, Western Brown saw an underclassman step up: freshman J Jenike posted 11 points in addition to seven steals and six boards. Those seven steals set a new season-high mark for Jenike. The team also got some help courtesy of Lu Waters, who had six points and six steals.

Western Brown's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Fairfield, their victory ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-4.

Western Brown will take on Clinton-Massie in a holiday battle at at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Western Brown is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.6 points per game this season. Fairfield and Colerain will compete for holiday cheer at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Fairfield is facing Colerain at the right time seeing as Colerain is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
