Softball Recap: Barron Collier Comes Up Short

Barron Collier came into their game on Saturday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 8-2 to the Evangelical Christian Sentinels. The Cougars haven't had much luck with the Sentinels recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Leena Forbes was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she struck out six batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and five unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Barron Collier saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sheila Forbes, who scored a run while going 3-for-4. Jordyn Kinn was another, going 1-for-4 with one triple and one RBI.

Barron Collier's loss dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Evangelical Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 18-3.

Coming up, Barron Collier will host Palmetto Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cougars' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bears have averaged an impressive 8.9 runs per game this season. As for Evangelical Christian, they will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Naples at 1:00 p.m.
