Softball Game Preview: Athens Drive Jaguars vs. Enloe Eagles

The Athens Drive Jaguars will head out on the road to challenge the Enloe Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Athens Drive will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.

Athens Drive will bounce into Tuesday's matchup after beating Sanderson, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Athens Drive blew past Sanderson 15-2 on Friday. That looming 15-2 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Jaguars yet this season.

Julia Seriguchi Chen made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits (and not a single walk). That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in March of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 3-for-5.

In other batting news, Athens Drive let Cora Driscoll and Isabelle Catalano run wild. Driscoll scored three runs while going 4-for-5, while Catalano went 1-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave Catalano a new career-high. Saryn Duggan was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-5.

Meanwhile, Enloe lost 21-7 to Cardinal Gibbons on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Eagles have suffered against the Crusaders since March 29, 2022.

Madison Haga made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

Athens Drive's victory ended an 11-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-8. As for Enloe, their loss dropped their record down to 5-4.

Athens Drive skirted past Enloe 4-3 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Athens Drive since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
