Basketball Recap: Oakesdale Find Success

After losing to Pomeroy the last time they met, Oakesdale decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Oakesdale Nighthawks came out on top against the Pomeroy Pirates by a score of 41-28 on Friday.

Pomeroy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jett Slusser, who posted eight points and 14 rebounds. Slusser has become a key player for Pomeroy: the team is 5-2 when he posts at least eight boards, but 4-6 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Rory McKeirnan, who earned seven points.

Oakesdale's win bumped their record up to 11-6. As for Pomeroy, their loss dropped their record down to 9-8.

Oakesdale has already played their next contest, a 58-46 defeat against Garfield-Palouse on the 25th. As for Pomeroy, they will venture away from home to take on St. John-Endicott/LaCrosse at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
