Baseball Game Preview: Henryville Hornets vs. Rock Creek Academy Lions

The Henryville Hornets will square off against the Rock Creek Academy Lions at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The last four games Henryville has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Henryville took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-7 victory over New Washington. With that win, the Hornets brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

Jack Bridges made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk). He is becoming a predictor of Henryville's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 2-1 (and 2-7 when he doesn't). Bridges was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Wyatt Owens was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Dylan O'Bannon, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Meanwhile, Saturday just wasn't the day for Rock Creek Academy's offense. They came up short against LKY on Saturday, falling 11-0. The Lions have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Rock Creek Academy's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Henryville, their victory bumped their record up to 4-8.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Henryville has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Rock Creek Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
