Softball Recap: South Summit Comes Up Short

South Summit was the 11-1 winner over Juan Diego Catholic when they last played one another back in May of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The South Summit Wildcats fell just short of the Juan Diego Catholic Soaring Eagle by a score of 12-11 on Thursday. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Mariah Bowen made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored three runs while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Brinley Stapleton, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI and two doubles.

Even though they lost, South Summit was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .323 or higher in five consecutive matches dating back to last season.

South Summit now has a losing record of 1-2.

South Summit didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 13-4 loss against Sky View on the 6th. As for Juan Diego Catholic, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 9-7 defeat against Beaver on the 6th.
