Basketball Recap: Connor Corris Key Part of Team Effort in Lakers Win

Even if it wasn't a dominant performance, the Windermere Prep Lakers beat the Creekside Knights 66-62 on Friday. Given the Lakers' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 17th, while the Knights are ranked 177th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Windermere Prep's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Connor Corris led the charge by dropping a double-double with 20 points and 11 boards. Corris has been hot, having posted eight or more rebounds the last six times he's played. Another player making a difference was Brandon Bass Jr., who went 8-for-20 on his way to 21 points and eight boards.

Windermere Prep smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in three consecutive games.

Windermere Prep pushed their record up to 7-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 80.3 points over those games. As for Creekside, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-3.

Windermere Prep didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 67-44 victory against Jones on the 15th. As for Creekside, they have also already played their next contest, a 79-74 loss against Nease on the 16th.
