Baseball Recap: Cornerstone Christian Sets Scoring Season-High Against Rio Lindo Adventist

Cornerstone Christian extended their losing streak to seven on Monday, dropping their season record down to 1-8 in the process. They came up short against the Rio Lindo Adventist Spartans, falling 24-15. On the bright side, the 15- run effort marked the Cougars' highest-scoring matchup to date.

Dylan Beesley was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. Martin Furtado was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

As for Rio Lindo Adventist, their record is now 6-3-1. Considering they have won four games by more than eight runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

On Rio Lindo Adventist's side, Vincent Barcenas was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Barcenas has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Rio Lindo Adventist's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 5-1 (and 1-2-1 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Rio Lindo Adventist got a massive performance out of Lenard Paloma, who got on base in four of his six plate appearances with three stolen bases, five runs, and three RBI. That's the most stolen bases Paloma has posted since back in April of 2024. Dale Hung also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Cornerstone Christian has already played their next contest, an 11-1 defeat against Bentley on the 29th. As for Rio Lindo Adventist, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 17-11 victory against Potter Valley on the 30th.
