Basketball Recap: Rosamond Comes Up Short

While it was all tied up 22-22 at halftime, Rosamond was not quite California City's equal in the second half on Friday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 49-48 to the California City Ravens. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Roadrunners this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 73-46 back in December of 2024.

California City found their leader in sophomore Avery 'Skywalker' Spears, who went 8 for 14 on his way to 19 points along with eight rebounds and four blocks. With that strong performance, Spears is now averaging an impressive 2 blocks per game. Another player making a difference was Carlito 'Smooth' Brown, who posted nine points in addition to six boards and four blocks.

Rosamond moved to 8-11 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak. As for California City, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-7.

Rosamond has already played their next contest, a 61-57 defeat against Bishop Union on the 31st. As for California City, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 78-44 victory against Desert on the 28th.
