Basketball Game Preview: Baker County Wildcats vs. Santa Fe Raiders

The Baker County Wildcats will take on the Santa Fe Raiders at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Baker County has six straight wins, Santa Fe has six straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Baker County is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They simply couldn't be stopped two weeks ago as they easily beat Bell 64-23. The Wildcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 30 points or more this season.

Natalia Strachan continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 28 points and 11 rebounds. She is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 14 games she's played dating back to last season. Yamise Haygood was another key player, putting up 14 points along with six rebounds and four steals.

Baker County was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bell only posted five assists.

Meanwhile, Santa Fe took a blow against Fort White on Friday, falling 64-18. While losing is never fun, the Raiders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 433rd, while the Indians are ranked 116th).

Baker County's victory was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-1. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.3 points per game. As for Santa Fe, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-9.
