League recap: Latu breaks off league-leading run for San Mateo

Line Latu of San Mateo ran for the longest rushing play in Peninsula - Ocean this season against Carlmont last week. Latu scampered for 75 yards on the play and finished with 137 on the day as his team beat the Scots.

Burlingame moved up to 326 from 412 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Panthers were able to move up by besting South San Francisco 51-0.

San Mateo's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Jason Gonzalez threw for 68 yards and Cristian Zarco had 55 yards receiving. On the ground Latu contributed 137 yards. Al Lewis helped San Mateo's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 13 yards.

Jeff Scheller's team's dynamic duo of Gonzalez and Zarco proved to be unstoppable against Carlmont, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Lewis helped San Mateo's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 13 yards.

Latu provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Bearcats topped Marcus Farhad's team. Latu's key target this week was Zarco, who caught 2 passes for 55 yards.

Woodside's Robert Wang and Josh Holman led the league in both passing and receiving yards. Wang has thrown for 563 yards this season, while Holman, a 5-foot-11 receiver, has 14 catches for 244 yards. San Mateo's Latu leads the league in rushing yards with 473.

Burlingame took down the Warriors 51-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Keone Keahi ran for 87 yards and caught 1 pass for 11 yards during the win.
