After both having extra time off, the Cookeville Cavaliers and the Blackman Blaze will shake off the cobwebs and challenge one another on Monday. Cookeville will be looking to extend their current ten-game winning streak.
Last Tuesday, Cookeville had just enough and edged Stewarts Creek out 3-2.
Cookeville took Stewarts Creek into a fifth set where they got it done with a five-point win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 25-21, 22-25, 22-25, 15-10.
Meanwhile, Blackman didn't have quite enough to beat Riverdale on Saturday and fell 3-2.
Blackman couldn't get the win, but they sure gave Riverdale a tough time in the first set. The final score came out to 33-31, 22-25, 18-26, 25-16, 15-7.
Blackman might have lost, but man, Annabelle Grissom was a machine: she had 24 digs. Grissom is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in the last six games she's played dating back to last season.
Cookeville has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 15 of their last 16 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 21-3 record this season. As for Blackman, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-13.
Everything went Cookeville's way against Blackman in their previous meeting back in September of 2020, as Cookeville made off with a 3-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Cookeville since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
