Basketball Recap: Logan Becerra's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Tulia over Hale Center

Tulia lost against Hale Center back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Tulia Hornets fell 55-42 to the Hale Center Owls. While losing is never fun, the Hornets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 950th, while the Owls are ranked 410th).

Tulia lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Logan Becerra, who posted six points and eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Zaiden Jalomo, who had no points in addition to eight assists, eight boards, and four steals.

Even though they lost, Tulia smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in four consecutive contests.

Tulia's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 11-11. As for Hale Center, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season.

Tulia will host Vega at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Tulia is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58 points per game this season. As for Hale Center, they will welcome Klondike at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Hale Center's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last six matches.
