Game recap: Winning streak ends as Bentonville bests Rogers

Bentonville (Ark.) snapped Rogers (Ark.)'s 5-game winning streak, with a 35-6 victory on Saturday.

The Tigers were up 28-6 at the half after taking the lead on a Garrett Kaufman touchdown run in the first quarter.

Bentonville expanded its lead to 29 points entering the fourth quarter. BHS's lone score in the quarter came on a touchdown pass by Reese Dollins to Chase Morse.

The Tigers put up 21 points in the first quarter en route to the win. Bentonville scored on three rushing touchdowns in the quarter, including two by Tearris Wallace.



Wallace stood out for BHS in the win. The senior running back ran for three touchdowns.

The Mounties' lone touchdown came on a 98-yard kick return in the first quarter.

The Tigers had given up an average of 6.0 points prior to the contest.

When the two teams played each other last season, Bentonville came away with a 61-6 victory.

The defeat comes as a step back for Rogers, which notched a 56-47 victory over Van Buren in its previous outing.

In a 7A/6A West game next week Rogers (5-1) takes on Fayetteville, and Bentonville (6-0) will go up against Rogers Heritage also in a 7A/6A West game.
