It was fun while it lasted, but St. Charles's undefeated season came to an end after six games on Tuesday. They were beaten by the Hemlock Huskies 81-44. The loss put an end to the Bulldogs' undefeated start to the season.
Despite the defeat, St. Charles saw an underclassman step up: freshman Abrielle Dinninger posted ten points and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Dinninger has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Nicole Zelinko, who went 5 of 11 en route to 12 points and four steals.
It was another big night for Victoria Hauffe, who went 9 for 17 on her way to 24 points and seven steals for Hemlock. Hauffe is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 15 games she's played dating back to last season. Klaira Salo was another key player, putting up 13 points and five assists.
Having lost for the first time this season, St. Charles fell to 6-1. As for Hemlock, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season.
St. Charles has already played their next match (against Coleman), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Hemlock will welcome Michigan Lutheran Seminary at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Hemlock is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.
