Baseball Recap: San Luis Gets the Win

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but San Luis ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Gila Ridge Hawks, sneaking past 2-1. The victory continues a trend for the Sidewinders in their matchups with the Hawks: they've now won three in a row.

San Luis got a great performance from Erick Espinoza as he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Espinoza is becoming a predictor of the Sidewinders' success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 3-1 (and 9-11 when he doesn't).

At the plate, San Luis saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Arnold Jimenez, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI. Another was Carlos Gonzales, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run.

The win got San Luis back to even at 12-12. As for Gila Ridge, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-19.

San Luis will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Hawks: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
