Baseball Recap: De La Salle Collegiate's Win on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Four

De La Salle Collegiate barely beat University of Detroit Jesuit the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. De La Salle Collegiate was the clear victor by a 10-1 margin over University of Detroit Jesuit on Saturday. That nine run margin sets a new team best for the Pilots this season.

Dylan Luepke tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over six innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Mason Pilarski was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. He also hit three doubles, marking his first of the season. Mason Stempin was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

The victory keeps De La Salle Collegiate at an undefeated 4-0. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average this season. As for University of Detroit Jesuit, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. De La Salle Collegiate will face off against St. Mary's Prep at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (De La Salle Collegiate 1.5, St. Mary's Prep 1.8) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for University of Detroit Jesuit, they are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will take on Central Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
