Morgan is on a three-game streak of home losses, and Armwood a six-game streak of away losses dating back to last season. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Thursday. The Morgan Mustangs will be playing at home against the Armwood Hawks at 7:00 p.m. Morgan has given up an average of 14.9 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Morgan fell victim to Freedom and their airtight pitching crew on Saturday. They came up short against the Patriots, falling 22-0.
The home team had won the previous three meetings between Armwood and Spoto, and Armwood kept the tradition alive. The Hawks put the hurt on the Spartans with a sharp 18-6 victory on Tuesday. The Hawks not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 17, 2025 (when they won 18-1).
Azaria Hall was incredible, firing off two home runs, six RBI, and three runs while going 2-for-2. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Tikema Jackson, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple.
Armwood was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .586. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Morgan's loss dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Armwood, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-7.
Armwood's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Morgan has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.9 hits per game. It's a different story for Armwood, though, as they've been averaging 13.1 hits. Given Morgan's sizable advantage in that area, the Hawks will need to find a way to close that gap.
Morgan got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in March against Armwood by a conclusive 25-9 score. Do the Mustangs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Hawks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
