Softball Preview: Sherrard Tigers vs. Orion Chargers

The Sherrard Tigers will be playing at home against the Orion Chargers at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The timing is sure in Sherrard's favor as the team sits on 13 straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Orion has been banged up by six consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.

Sherrard scored the most runs they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Galesburg as Sherrard made off with a 17-2 win. The result was nothing new for Sherrard, who have now won four matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.

Marisa Neels was a standout: she went 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and a run. Another player making a difference was Abby Dean, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3.

While Orion couldn't quite beat Erie-Prophetstown on Wednesday, the two-point margin was a huge improvement compared to the ten-point loss they were dealt on Monday. Orion fell just short of Erie-Prophetstown by a score of 13-11. Both teams can probably skip cardio this week after making that many trips around the bases.

Sherrard has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. As for Orion, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-7.
