Softball Game Preview: Covington Academy Bulldogs vs. Creekside Christian Academy Cougars

Covington Academy hasn't had much luck against Creekside Christian Academy recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Covington Academy Bulldogs are taking a road trip to square off against the Creekside Christian Academy Cougars at 5:00 p.m.

Covington Academy came up short against Scholars Guild Academy on Friday, falling 9-2. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Covington Academy saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ryleigh Marks, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, the third road contest was the charm for Creekside Christian Academy, as they earned their first road win of the season. They put the hurt on Trinity Prep with a sharp 8-2 victory on Friday. The win was some much needed relief for the Cougars as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Chelsea Buice spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on nine hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, Aviana Mathis was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two triples, and three RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Maya Lewis was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 3-for-3.

Creekside Christian Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Covington Academy now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Creekside Christian Academy, the victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 2-4.

Covington Academy came up short against Creekside Christian Academy in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, falling 10-6. Can Covington Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
