Basketball Recap: Avery Boehm's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Mascoutah over Highland

Mascoutah was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They received a blow as they fell 53-34 to the Highland Bulldogs. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Indians this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 58-28 back in December of 2024.

Mascoutah's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Avery Boehm, who went 5 for 12 on her way to 16 points and five rebounds. The dominant performance gave Boehm a new career-high in points. Harper Whitworth was another key player, putting up ten points and six boards.

Mascoutah's record is now 3-16. As for Highland, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 10-12 record this season.

Mascoutah has already played their next matchup, a 36-21 defeat against Wesclin on the 20th. As for Highland, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 44-43 win against Carlyle on the 18th.
