Basketball Recap: Mountain City Christian Academy Comes Up Short

Mountain City Christian Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 60-58 heartbreaker at the hands of the Grace Christian Grizzlies. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alaska basketball rankings (they are ranked 40th, while the Grizzlies are ranked third).

Despite the loss, Mountain City Christian Academy still got an impressive performance from Lukas Underhile, who went 8 of 12 on his way to 22 points and five boards. With that strong performance, Underhile is now averaging an impressive 15.4 points per game. Another player making a difference was Serge Duchatellier, who went 5 for 8 en route to 14 points.

Mountain City Christian Academy now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Grace Christian, their win was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-1.

Mountain City Christian Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 54-23 loss against Colony on the 4th. As for Grace Christian, they will be playing at home against Mountain City Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on February 7th. One thing working in Grace Christian's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last ten games.
