Baseball Game Preview: Algona Bulldogs vs. Humboldt Wildcats

Algona is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Humboldt is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Bulldogs will host the Wildcats on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Algona 3.6, Humboldt 4) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Algona's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They blew past Charles City 10-0. Considering the Bulldogs have won 16 games by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Humboldt challenged Clear Lake on Friday. The Wildcats came out on top in a nail-biter against the Lions, sneaking past 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Wildcats have posted against the Lions since June 2, 2023.

Humboldt has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 26-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. As for Algona, their victory bumped their record up to 23-8.

Everything went Algona's way against Humboldt in their previous meeting back in June, as Algona made off with an 11-0 win. Will the Bulldogs repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
