Basketball Game Preview: Libertyville Wildcats vs. Benet Academy Redwings

The Libertyville Wildcats will face off against the Benet Academy Redwings at 2:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Libertyville sitting on 12 straight victories and Benet Academy on 19.

On Saturday, Libertyville didn't have too much trouble with Warren Township as they won 47-32. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 28th, while the Blue Devils are ranked 404th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Benet Academy strolled past Prospect with points to spare on Saturday, taking the game 58-40.

Benet Academy pushed their record up to 19-1 with the win, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Libertyville, their victory bumped their record up to 17-4.

Libertyville came up short against Benet Academy when the teams last played back in December of 2021, falling 50-46. Can Libertyville avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
