Softball Game Preview: Forest Hills Yellow Jackets vs. Piedmont Panthers

Forest Hills hasn't had much luck against Piedmont recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. Forest Hills will head out on the road to face off against Piedmont at 5:30 p.m. Forest Hills has given up an average of 16.8 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Forest Hills lost 11-1 to Charlotte Country Day School on Wednesday. The Yellow Jackets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Forest Hills saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Laurieyata Cuthbertson, who went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases.

Meanwhile, Piedmont had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They came out on top against the Ragin' Bulls by a score of 6-2. The game was the first time the Panthers have beaten the Ragin' Bulls on their field since February 28, 2019.

Jailyn Thomas made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Those 14 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one triple and one RBI. That triple marked the first that she hit this season.

Forest Hills' loss dropped their record down to 1-12. As for Piedmont, their record now sits at 10-4.

Forest Hills might still be hurting after the 23-0 defeat they got from Piedmont in their previous matchup on March 6th. Can Forest Hills avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
