Baseball Recap: Monache Triumphs

Monache hadn't done well against Porterville recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Marauders walked away with a 12-9 win over the Panthers. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 8-1 on Tuesday.

Brody McCoy made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. McCoy was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. Those two runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Ty Baxter was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Lewis Green was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Monache was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .448. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

The victory made it two in a row for Monache and bumps their season record up to 15-7. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Porterville, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-17.
