Basketball Recap: Hammond Takes a Loss

Hammond lost against Fontainebleau back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Hammond Tornadoes were outmatched by the Fontainebleau Bulldogs and fell 51-18. The match marked the Tornadoes' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Fontainebleau's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Laderricka Payne, who went 5-for-8 to rack up 14 points and six steals. Payne has become a key player for Fontainebleau: the team is 7-3 when she posts at least five steals, but 5-14 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Leila Neal, who went 5-for-12 en route to 10 points and five steals.

Hammond has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 6-17 record this season. As for Fontainebleau, their record now sits at 12-17.

Hammond didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 32-30 victory against Covington on the 7th. As for Fontainebleau, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 46-37 win against Mt. Carmel on the 5th.
