Basketball Preview: Moundridge Wildcats vs. Marion Warriors

Moundridge is 9-1 against the Warriors since February of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Moundridge Wildcats' road trip will continue as they head out to face the Marion Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on February 6th. Moundridge will be strutting in after a win while the Warriors will be coming in after a loss.

Last Friday, Moundridge slipped by the Inman Teutons 46-45.

Moundridge's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Macy Kaminkow, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds, and Cammi Unruh, who scored 13 points along with six assists and four steals. Unruh is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last eight games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Addy Patrick, who scored seven points along with three steals.

Meanwhile, Marion came up short against the Black Bears on Friday and fell 44-36. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Marion in their matchups with the Black Bears: they've now lost nine in a row.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Grace Hett, who scored 12 points along with eight steals. Kenna Wesner was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with three steals.

Moundridge is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. As for Marion, their loss dropped their record down to 6-8.

This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Moundridge hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 56.8 points per game. It's a different story for Marion, though, as they've been averaging only 39.6 points per game. The only thing between Moundridge and another offensive beatdown is the Warriors. Will they be able to keep them contained?

Moundridge was able to grind out a solid victory over the Warriors when the teams last played back in January of 2023, winning 52-39. The rematch might be a little tougher for Moundridge since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
