Game recap: Oberlin back-and-forth battle over Brookside

After three lead changes, Oberlin (Ohio) took the lead for good when Kalif Townsel ran for a touchdown with 2:00 to go in the second quarter and held on to defeat Brookside (Sheffield, Ohio) 41-28 on Saturday.

The The Phoenix were up 21-14 at the half after taking the lead on a Townsel touchdown run in the second quarter.

Oberlin expanded its lead to 12 points entering the fourth quarter. OHS scored two times in the third, including once on a touchdown run by Jason Moore Jr.

Townsel and Moore Jr ran for a bunch of touchdowns for the Cardinals. Townsel scored two touchdowns on the ground and Moore Jr added three as well.

Brookside's Jake Morgan was the standout player for his team. The junior ran for one touchdown. He has now scored two touchdowns on the season.



The The Phoenix got revenge for last year's 36-19 loss to BHS with the victory.

The loss was the fourth in a row for the Sheffield school. With the win Oberlin extended its winning streak to four games.

In a non-conference game next week Oberlin (4-0) takes on Firelands, and Brookside (0-4) will go up against Lutheran West also in a non-conference game.
