Baseball Recap: Bentley Has No Trouble Against Cornerstone Christian

Bentley not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since May 10, 2024 (when they won 13-0). They put the hurt on the Cornerstone Christian Cougars with a sharp 11-1 win. 11 seems to be a good number for the Phoenix as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Alex Mikhailov spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit and racked up six Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Dean Perry, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Max Grossman was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Bentley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.

Bentley's win bumped their record up to 2-8. As for Cornerstone Christian, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Bentley beat the Cougars by a score of 11-2 on Friday.
